New Covid infections reported on Tuesday have gone up again in Bardez with over 90 persons testing positive even as eight inmates in Colvale jail were found infected with the dreaded virus.
Porvorim is turning out to be a hotspot in the taluka with active positive cases in the highly urbanised locale shooting up to 267.
The highest number of positive cases was reported in the jurisdiction of Colvale Primary Health Centre (PHC) with 30 persons testing positive.
Eight persons tested positive in Colvale jail, six in Revora, five in Assonora, three each in Tivim and Pirna, two each in Sirsaim and Colvale and one in Camurlim.Incidentally, six jail inmates reported positive on Monday.“Most of those who tested positive are family contacts while cases from central jail have added to the numbers,” Dr Damodar Narvenkar, Health Officer at Colvale PHC said.
18 positive cases were reported from Candolim PHC. Five persons were infected with the virus in Arpora, four each in Saligao and Pilerne, two in Candolim and one each in Nerul, Reis Magos and Calangute.
“Most of the cases reported today are new cases. As per new guidelines we are testing only symptomatic patients now,” Dr Roshan Nazareth, Health Officer of Candolim PHC said.
Health Officer of Siolim PHC, Dr Sadhna Shetye informed that 18 persons tested in her jurisdiction “ Parra (7), Assagao (3), Anjuna (4), Canca (3) and Siolim (1).
Mapusa Urban Health Centre witnessed 15 new positive cases on Tuesday. Five persons tested positive in Shetya-vaddo/Duler, two each in Feira Alta, Dattawadi and Cunchelim and one each in Carrasvaddo, Khorlim, Dangui Colony and Ansabhat.
13 positive cases were reported from Aldona PHC. Four persons tested positive in Aldona, two each in Bastora, Nachinola and Moira and one each in Quitla and Ecoxim.
