Bardez witnesses steady rise in cases, over 100 infected

3 foreigners test positive in Mapusa detention centre, 3 inmates infected in Colvale jail

Three foreigners from the detention centre, Mapusa and three inmates from Covale jail have tested positive for coronavirus on Wednesday, even as the number of new Covid cases maintained a steady rise of little over 100 in Bardez.

The major number of cases was reported from Mapusa Urban Health Centre followed by Colvale and Porvorim primary health centres.

The least number of cases were reported in Aldona PHC with just three persons testing positive.

Health Officer of Mapusa UHC, Dr Cheryl de Souza informed that 35 persons tested positive in Mapusa.

Seven persons tested positive in Khorlim, six in Peddem, five each in Dattawadi and Carrasvaddo, four in Altinho, three at Mapusa detention centre, two in Angod and one each in Gaunsavaddo, Ekta Nagar and Ansabhat.

A total of 22 cases were recorded at Colvale PHC.

According to Health Officer at Colvale PHC Dr Damodar Narvenkar, eight persons tested positive in Colvale, three at Central jail, six in Tivim, two in Assonora and one each in Sirsaim, Revora and Camurlim.

Similarly, Porvorim PHC reported 20 positive cases – Penha de Franca (11), Socorro (5) and Guirim (4).

Eighteen infections were detected by the Siolim PHC. Health Officer, Dr Sadhna Shetye informed that four persons each tested positive in Canca and Anjuna, three each in Siolim-Sodiem, Assagao and Siolim-Marna and one in Parra.

Candolim PHC reported 16 new cases on Wednesday – Pilerne (7), Saligao (4), Calangute (2), Nerul (1), Arpora (1) and Reis Magos (1).

Aldona PHC reported just three positive cases – Bastora (2) and Ucassaim (1).
