A barge drifted to the Kharewaddo jetty late Monday night and damaged a few trawlers anchored along the jetty.
According to sources, the barge was alongside a ship at berth in the Mormugao Port and the crew were looking to tie the barge to the ship but the rope gave way due to strong currents and the barge began to drift away.
The crew then tried to steer the barge but could not control the barge from drifting further away.
According to a trawler owner, Michael Pereira, the crew on trawlers steered away from the path of the barge and minimised the damage.
