Be conscious about your language: Konkani linguists

Panelists at the one-day review meet held to mark the death anniversary of Konkani linguist late Madhavi Sardesai felt dialects enhance the richness of any language and laid stress on remaining acutely conscious of one’s language.

the goan I network\\\\r\\\MARGAO\\\\r\\\\\\\r\\\The review meet, organised by Jaag Prakashan together with Ravindra Bhavan, Margao and Konkani Bhasha Mandal, examined the varied dialects of Konkani language and also emphasised on the importance of giving equal importance to all the 23 Indian languages recognised by the central government and not just popularising Hindi alone. \\\\r\\\Linguists at the meet narrated the richness of the dialects of Konkani language extending from the northernmost tip Pernem to the Southern part Canacona. While doing so, they cited examples of various inhabitants and their dialect, the region, the Samaj and the stories conveyed through the local ballads which help communication among people and preserve the listener’s interest.

Taximen clash at Dabolim, one injured

Clashes between two groups of unauthorised taxi operators left one injured outside the terminal building at Dabolim airport in the wee hours of Sunday.
