Belgaum Milk Union (BMU), which is the part of Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF) and the major supplier of Nandini brand of milk, will be boosting its supplies to Goa.

Srinivasan G, who took over as the new managing director of BMU, told The Goan that he plans to enhance the supply network in Goa on account of a rising demand from consumers of Nandini milk and milk products.

A leader in the Belagavi region, BMU has a strong procuring network in the milk-producing Belagavi region and supplies about 35,000 litres of fresh milk to Goa everyday.

Milk supplies to Goa, which had once peaked to over 40,000 litres, had dwindled due to the pandemic.

However, BMU has a target to double its sales in Goa with the enhanced supply network from the milk procuring region and upgraded packaging technology installed.

With his vast experience and expertise with KMF, Srinivasan said he wants to boost milk sales in Goa and Pune region and this plan will be executed within the next couple of months.

“Due to its purity, quality and cleanliness, the demand for Nandini milk is higher in Goa. We are known for our ‘Udder to Customer’ policy of providing clean and hygienic milk and milk products to the consumers. Hence, we intend to enhance our supply network,” Srinivasan told The Goan.

“We intend to set up new outlets in the populated localities of Vasco, north Goa and other parts,” he said.

“We are also looking forward to setting up franchises in Goa and Pune who can be our business partners. The BMU intends to sell about 70,000 litres of milk in Goa. With well-developed procuring techniques, we are successful in maintaining 100% hygiene, due to which demand for our milk has been rising. Every possible measure will be taken to supply milk across Goa,” Srinivasan added.
