As the jobs-for-cash scam shows no sign of abating, lady job seekers from Benaulim have wondered whether they would be considered for the 11 LDC posts advertised by the Margao Municipal Council or whether the posts are only reserved for the people of Margao.
Another lady job seeker, with an M Com and B Ed degree holder also wondered whether she would get a teaching job with the managements insisting on experience to start her teaching career.
The lady job seeker from Orlim Pratibha Parwar told the media in the office of the Benaulim MLA Venzy Viegas that she belongs to the Scheduled Caste community, but the posts advertised by the MMC for the 11 posts of LDCs have no reservation for the SC. “I have applied for the post of LDC. I have come to ask our MLA Venzy whether the posts advertised by the MMC are only meant for the youth of Margao,” Parwar said.
Taking cognisance of the sentiments of the two girls, the Benaulim MLA sought to know whether these two girl job seekers have to pay cash just to get the jobs and overcome the hurdles. “The girl from Navelim has done her Masters, but she cannot get a job because the managements are insisting on experience. What is the message to this girl that she should pay cash and get the job because she has no experience? This is the reason why these two girls have come to a MLA because all jobs are sold for cash,” Venzy said.
He added: I told the girl from Orlim that she may not get the job in the MMC because all jobs are sold. Otherwise, the government should come out with a paper to explain how many jobs in the PWD, Health, Education, MMC have been given for the youth from Benaulim constituency during my stint as MLA,” he said.
Demanding that the government and the BJP should come clear on the jobs-for-cash scam, the Benaulim MLA demanded that the government should immediately come out with a notification that those youth who had given money to get a job will not be prosecuted by the government. “Presently, there is a fear amongst many youth that if they expose the people whom they had paid money, they will be prosecuted,” Venzy added.
