“Law has prevailed,” a hugely relieved Bhomkar stated while adding that all due process was followed in which he came out triumph by 5-4 margin. “It was only after the interference of the Power Minister Madkaikar that the officials came under pressure,” he stated.
Further, Bhomkar came down heavily on Madkaikar for barging in the panchayat office and attempting to pressurize the PO. “The minister’s men also abused me and my wife and I have filed a complaint to this effect with Police,” he added.
Speaking to the media, Madkaikar blamed the PO for the debacle. “Once the PO realized he had committed a mistake, he should have consulted his higher ups and then gone ahead with the election. Otherwise, he should have conducted fresh elections by handing over fresh ballot papers to all the nine panchas,” he added.
Madkaikar further said his camp enjoys majority with the support of five panchas. “Even the deputy sarpanch Archita Painginkar, who is elected unopposed, is from my camp,” he said while opining how come the result differ for the sarpanch’s post.
