A special meeting of bar owners from Bicholim and Sattari was convened at Bicholim Municipal Council (BMC) hall Bicholim on Sunday. A large number of stakeholders from Bicholim and Sattari attended the meeting.
During the meeting, All Goa Liquor Shop Owners Association general secretary Veena Fogeri expressed hope that Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar would solve their problems by denotifying the state highway passing through Bicholim.
“After the Supreme Court order, many liquor outlets in Bicholim would be closed down and I request the State government to find some other measure to solve the problem,” said Fogeri.
The main issue discussed was that if the road that passes through Bicholim, which has been declared the main highway, is denotified then the problem could be solved.
A wholesaler, Nitin Kumbharjuvekar, said they will approach the local MLA to approach the chief minister.
