UPGRADING NH-748
PANAJI
National Highway NH-748, which runs from Ponda to Anmod, is a critical road in the region. On Tuesday, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant shared important updates about this highway.
The section of NH-748 between Ponda and Anmod is 41 kilometres long and has an average width of 7 metres.
This stretch was built before Goa's liberation and features several zigzag curves, a characteristic of its original design.
With regards to improving the highway and addressing its current shortcomings, a proposal has been made to upgrade NH-748 to a four-lane road. This upgrade aims to:
Eliminate zigzag curves: The new design will remove the existing zigzag curves, making the road safer and more efficient.
Upgrade process: The land acquisition process for this upgrade is already in progress. Additionally, the Detailed Project Report (DPR) is being finalized to guide the improvements.
Once the land acquisition is complete and the DPR is approved, the project will move forward. The final step will be receiving job sanction from the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MORT&H) to officially start the construction work.
