The Goa Mining People’s Front (GMPF) on Sunday said that alliance partners of BJP-led government are equally responsible of delaying mining resumption in the State.
GMPF convenor Puti Gaonkar on Sunday addressed news conference and also sought support from business houses, shopkeepers and vendors on February 26, as part of their support to the Goa bandh.
The president or Dharandora Taluka Truck Owners Association Vinayak alias Balaji Gauns, Sandip Pauskar, Sandip Parab, Mahesh Gauns and others were present on the occasion.
Gaonkar said that the vendors from all the areas have asked them to provide black flags, so they can mark their protest by tying it to their shops and houses. “They are in such situations that they are ready to take their own decision if government fails to restart mining.” Gaonkar said.
“I don’t understand why government is so afraid of us. It has served us notices under Section 149 of Criminal Procedure Code and has asked to remain present at police station on February 25. Government should not try to suppress voice of truth.” Puti Gaonkar said.
When asked whether alliance partners of State government are equally responsible for present situation, Gaonkar replied positively. “MGP president Deepak Dhavalikar had assured us to withdraw support of government. But nothing has happened”, he said.
Gaonkar said that they will not force anyone to keep their shops shut. “We will observe bandh very peacefully. We will not force anyone to pull their shutters down”, he said.
Incidentally, the Congress, Shiv Sena and Goa Suraksha Manch have supported the Goa bandh called on February 26.
