BJP defends Amit Shah's remarks

The BJP on Wednesday attempted to defend Amit Shah’s remarks saying that Parrikar will supervise affairs in Goa despite not being either elected from here or appointed here, saying that the comments needn’t refer to Parrikar. “We have three leaders in Delhi. It doesn’t have to mean Manohar Parrikar, it could mean Shripad Naik or Narendra Sawaikar. The Chief Ministerial candidate will be decided by the party’s elected MLAs,” BJP’s Sakhali MLA Pramod Sawant said.

However, Amit Shah was unequivocal in naming Parrikar and was not speaking about a chief ministerial choice but about Parrikar supervising Goa’s government despite being the country’s Defence Minister.

Sawant also challenged the Congress to a debate on where they will get the money to fund their promises of free petrol to youth and other “outrageous” promises in their manifesto.

“I challenge the Congress to a debate on the issue of how they will be able to fund these. It is easy to make wild promises when you know you are not going to win and won’t have to fulfill them,” he said.
