The BJP is eyeing a hat-trick of sorts in the ensuing bypoll for the Davorlim Zilla panchayat seat as a host of party leaders descended in the constituency on Sunday to drum up support of party candidate Paresh Naik.
Days after embracing the saffron party, Congress-turned-BJP MLA Digambar Kama made a fervent plea to the BJP leaders and workers to sink their differences and unitedly work to give the party a victory in the bypoll.
In fact, after inaugurating the election office of party candidate Paresh Naik in the presence of Navelim MLA Ulhas Tuenkar, party general secretaries Narendra Sawaikar and Damu Naik at Davorlim on Sunday, Kamat offered his services to the party, saying he is ready to move door-to-door to ensure all the party workers and leaders unitedly work for the candidate.
“I also enjoy support in the Davorlim ZP constituency, having helped people in the past. Though I was in the Congress all these years, I share a close rapport with the Navelim MLA Ulhas Tuenkar as well as candidate Paresh Naik,” he said while urging the workers to work hard for the success of the party in the bypoll and help strengthen the hands of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Pramod Sawant.
Tuenkar appealed to the workers to work hard for the party’s success in the election and ensure the party wins the Davorlim ZP seat.
Both Narendra Sawaikar and Damu said they have no doubt the party would emerge triumphant in the bypoll.
