Aam Aadmi Party yesterday accused both the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party and the opposition Indian National Congress party of abdicating all responsibility towards Goa and Goans and dancing to the tunes of corporate houses and their party high command based in Delhi.
AAP spokesperson Surel Tilve said the BJP and Congress’ betrayal of Goa and Goan interest is best seen in the fact that both the parties have appointed former ministers in Karnataka government as their local observers
“This is done to ensure that the parties in Goa do not raise any objection to the diversion of Mhadei water by Karnataka which has already constructed dams across the river and diverted some water thanks to the blessings of the central government,” he said.
Replying to a question, he said that “matter being in the court” is just an excuse being given by both the parties and pointed out how the dams were constructed even when the matter was pending before the water tribunals.
"C.T Ravi when questioned by media about Mhadei, tried to dodge the question. It is clear that the Goa BJP have failed to save Mhadei and the Goa BJP have succumbed to their high command's diktat. The BJP high command have asked the Goa BJP to keep mum on the subject as Karnataka has more MPs compared to Goa. Hence the writing is on the wall that for the sake of the party the BJP is ready to sacrifice Mhadei."
“Why did the BJP government take so long to file the appeal before the Supreme Court and why is the
appeal not being followed up so that it comes on board?” he asked implying that there was a conspiracy to divert Mhadei water to Karnataka to the detriment of Goa.
“Both the BJP and the Congress are more bothered about Karnataka that gives them more MPs than Goa,” he said adding that these parties have been selling Mhadei and will continue to do so and asserted that Goans should learn their lesson and not elect the political party ruling at the centre or Karnataka state.
Replying to a question, he said Karnataka’s claim to adhere to the court order is just a gimmick as
earlier even while the court was seized of the matter Karnataka went ahead with the construction of the dam.
