The BJP Goa team headed by its State convenor of National Health volunteers’ campaign, Dr Shekhar Salkar, co-convenor Dr Sneha Bhagwat, representative of party coordinator Sharmad Raiturkar attended a day-long training of trainers’ session at BJP headquarters in New Delhi.
“The session is the world’s largest campaign to train volunteers at booth levels to help tide over the possible third Covid wave which may hit India by September,” stated Dr Salkar, adding, “The volunteers trained at the session are expected to reach out to 2,00,000 villages across India and further train 4,00,000 volunteers in checking of SpO2, thermal screening, liaisoning with multipurpose workers, PHC, CHC, NGOs and see that the lowermost strata gets attention and move them to Covid care centres, step-up centres or Covid hospitals. These volunteers will also help in taking people to vaccination centres if need be.”
Adding on a personal note Dr Salkar expressed that it was a proud moment for him to be associated with a political organisation who all, all the time, is thinking of how to help people at the grassroot level. “I am thrilled to visit the BJP headquarters which has all infrastructure for meetings, state-of-the-art technology, office spaces, cafeteria and all amenities under one roof. It’s a huge responsibility for us to take this to the logical end,” concluded Dr Salkar.
