BJP has recognised Goans at highest level: Minister

VASCO

Transport Minister Mauvin Godinho has said the BJP has given importance and recognition to Goans at the highest level.

“Earlier, many eminent Goans who deserved high posts were not given their due recognition,’ said Godinho, while addressing a function organised by the Murgao Hindu Samaj (MHS) to felicitate Rajendra Arlekar, a son of Vasco on his appointment as governor of Himachal Pradesh.

“Arlekar is a man of principles and as Speaker, conducted the proceedings of the House in a fair manner by giving opportunities to the government and opposition to put forth their views. This is a hallmark of a healthy democracy,” said Godinho.

Cortalim MLA Alina Saldanha claimed that there is a woman behind every successful man and lauded the role played by the governor’s wife.

“A political life and career takes its toll on family time and the wife is compelled to step in the shoes of the absent husband,” said Saldanha.

Vasco MLA and KTC Chairman Carlos Almeida also complimented Arlekar on his gubernatorial posting.

NCP State President Jose Philip D’Souza commented how as neighbours in the humble locality of Kharewado, they grew up together as friends and continue to remain, close friends, though there was a vast difference in their political affiliations and ideology.

MHS President and noted industrialist Narayan Bandekar also spoke on the occasion.

Arlekar later expressed his gratitude to the Murgao Hindu Samaj for felicitating him on his appointment.
