If the government fails to find the culprit involved in the death of the teenaged Nachinola girl before the 12 days of mourning then the Goa Forward Party will take the issue to every house in the State, warned Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardesai, suggesting that the case could very well become an election issue.
Sardessai also slammed the Goa Police for declaring that no foul play was suspected in the case based on the post-mortem report even when the body of the girl was found in mysterious circumstances at Calangute beach.
“The whole of Goa is shocked over the case. People are surprised at the Superintendent of Police’s (SP) statement stating that there is nothing unnatural about this death. Goa wants to know who has asked the SP to make the statement. The chief minister who is also the home minister should answer,” Sardesai said.
He said the circumstances that led to the death of the 19-year-old raises a lot of questions than answers and there were attempts to hush up the matter.
“We have learnt that police are calling the parents and harassing them even before the 12 days of mourning is complete. We will not remain silent spectators and will support the family of the girl in every way so that they get justice,” the GFP chief said.
Sardessai also said that he did not want to blame any political party at this stage when the investigation was going on.
