Stating there was a deliberate attempt to whip up hysteria over various projects in the State, BJP State President Sadanand Tanavade on Saturday appealed to the cadre to be ready to counter misinformation indulged by the opposition.
He also said that every election was crucial for the party and stressed the significance of being on the winning side in the Zilla Parishad and civic polls.
“Whether it is the IIT issue in Valpoi or coal in Vasco, the double-tracking of railway line and expansion of the NH or the power project in Mollem,
the opposition is trying to extract mileage and indulge in politics for their survival,” Tanavade said.
The State BJP chief was addressing a gathering of karyakartas after inaugurating a two-day training workshop organised by the party in Tivim constituency.
Tivim MLA Nilkant Halarnkar, North Goa BJP District President Mahanand Asnodkar and ZP candidates Dada Kubal and Diksha Kanolkar and BJP party workers were present on the occasion.
Continuing, Tanavade said there were huge agitations when the central government wanted to bring the Konkan Railway in the State. “We were not in power then. But we have gained experience and have learnt how to tackle issues,” he said.
He complimented the opposition for highlighting the issues quite early in the day and giving the BJP an opportunity to gear up and face the challenges before the 2022 assembly elections.
“It’s good that the opposition has raised the issues very early giving us a chance to find a way out and address them,” he said.
He further observed that these were not issues that happened just today but the opposition was trying to politicise them. “We need to be ready and go and tell the people that what the opposition is saying is wrong and they are spreading falsehood,” he exhorted the karyakartas.
“Our MLAs and ministers have started to speak to people on these issues and in future, we all will have to explain the wrong message that is going around,” he added.
He said in politics there was no semi-finals and all elections big or small were important for the party.
“We have to win the ZP and the municipal elections on our way to emerge victorious in the 2022 assembly polls,” he said.
The first batch of such training workshops for karyakartas has been organised by the BJP in Tivim and Mandrem in North Goa and in Curchorem and Quepem in South Goa.
Tivim MLA Nilkant Halarnkar said the good thing about BJP was that whether the party was in power or not, party work continues.
“Elections will come and go. But we need to keep in touch with people, listen to their grievances, solve their problems and carry the party work forward. That is why the party is conducting such workshops so that experienced resource persons can explain how to go about in resolving various issues/problems,” Halarnkar said.
