PORVORIM
The BJP registered comfortable victories in the Penha de Franca, Socorro and Reis Magos Zilla Panchayat constituencies. In the Penha de Franca constituency, BJP candidate Sandeep Salgaonkar won by a margin of 4,739 votes. He secured 7,511 votes, while his nearest Congress rival, Eldrich D’Souza, polled 2,772 votes. The RGP and AAP candidates managed 547 and 219 votes respectively.
In the Socorro ZP constituency, BJP candidate Amit Asnodkar defeated Congress candidate Gorakhnath Mandrekar by a margin of 5,687 votes. Asnodkar secured 9,195 votes, while Mandrekar polled 3,508 votes.
In the Reis Magos ZP constituency, BJP candidate Reshma Bandodkar won the seat by a margin of 3,584 votes. She secured 7,162 votes, while her Congress rival Sonal Malvankar polled 3,578 votes.
The BJP’s victories in these three seats have strengthened the influence of Tourism Minister and Porvorim MLA Rohan Khaunte in the Penha de Franca and Socorro constituencies, and Saligao MLA Kedar Naik in the Reis Magos constituency.
