He was speaking at a women s day programme organised by Mahila Congress and Seva Dal of Ponda at Sun Grace Garden at Bethora-Ponda on Sunday. A large number of women present at the programme included Mahila Congress president Sunita Verenkar, writer Jyoti Kuncolienkar, Swati Kerkar, Jyoti Gaonkar of Seva Dal and others were present. Speaking further, Naik said BJP has been restraining women from attending functions of other parties, on the pretext of denying them the schemes. “They are suppressing the voice of women. In fact, women were told not to attend this function and this politics is not acceptable,” Naik said. Naik also alleged that BJP had done nothing for the empowerment of women. “BJP should inform the people what they have done for women,” he said. Verenkar praised Ravi Naik s work and requested all women to support him in the next assembly election. “The BJP government has failed in all aspects and has done nothing for the people of Goa. Congress has always worked for betterment of women,” she said. Several cultural programmes and competitions were organised for women during the day-long event.
