BJP president Vinay Tendulkar assured that the second list of names will be formally announced only next week as the party’s central parliamentary committee will take a decision only then.
“By January 15, we will have the next and final list of names, that leaves the candidates with about three days to file their nominations,” Tendulkar said.
Tendulkar was speaking on the sidelines of a function to induct several ex-Congressmen members into the party, including Vijaykumar Vernekar who was once a strong Congress loyalist and son of former Congress Pale MLA Chandrakant Vernekar. More than a dozen former Congressmen from Tivim constituency also joined BJP, including former Tivim sarpanch and former Congress candidate Premnath Maulingkar, Dnyaneshwar Kambli and others including panchas, former panchas and ZP members.
Current legislator Kiran Kandolkar took the opportunity to take potshots at his rival Nilkanth Halarnkar, saying that he has inducted several people into the Congress, while also claiming that they were BJP men, but were never BJP men in the first place.
