MARGAO
Saying the Lotus bloomed for the first time in Navelim in the recently held Assembly polls, State BJP President Sadanand Tanavade on Wednesday exuded confidence that the party would one day win the remaining four seats in Salcete.
He also sounded the poll bugle for the ensuing panchayat election and the 2024 Lok Sabha poll by making a call to the party cadre to gear up for election to the grassroot bodies and the Parliamentary poll.
Speaking at a party function organised to felicitate Navelim MLA Ulhas Tuenkar at the party South Goa district office, Tanavade said the party has so far won the seats in Margao, Fatorda, Cuncolim and now Navelim. “The Lotus has not bloomed in the remaining four seats of Nuvem, Velim, Benaulim and Curtorim. Like in Navelim, the party flag will fly high in these four seats one day or the other with the support of the party cadre,” he asserted.
Reminding that the BJP could win in five new seats in the 2022 Assembly election in Ponda, Porvorim, Poriem, Navelim and Taleigao, Tanavade said the party will make its presence across the State in the coming years.
On the panchayat polls, the BJP leader appealed to the party workers to gear up for the panchayat polls even though the polls are not held on party lines.
He also appealed to the workers to gear up for the 2024 Lok Sabha polls, exuding confidence that the BJP will wrest the South Goa seat from the Congress this time round.
Showering praises on the Navelim MLA Ulhas Tuenkar, terming him as an ordinary worker, Tanavade said the BJP is the only party whose ordinary workers can rise to become a MLA and Ministers.
Former South Goa MP and party leader Narendra Sawaikar complimented the Navelim MLA for his success in the election.
Saying he has taken charge of the KTC on Wednesday, Tuenkar said he would ensure that the position benefit the people of his constituency and neighbouring constituencies.
