BJP National General Secretary CT Ravi on Saturday said the selection process for candidate applies to all the leaders, including Congress and MGP turncoats, who are now members of the party.
Patting the Chief Minister, Cabinet ministers and MLAs for putting up a good show in the state, Ravi said the hard work has already borne fruits at zilla panchayat and municipal elections.
He said BJP will set in motion the process for selection of candidates once the poll body announces election dates.
Ravi was at BJP’s South Goa office for a meeting with workers along with State Party president Sadanand Tanavade, Deputy Chief Minister Chandrakant Kavlekar, former MP Narendra Savaikar and others on Saturday.
When asked whether Congress and MGP turncoats will be considered for ticket, he shot back, “Those who have joined the party are now part of the organization and there’s no differentiation”.
Pressed further for a byte if they would be eligible for the party ticket to contest the 2022 election, Ravi made it clear that the party follows a process on selection of candidates, which is being followed across the country. “We have an internal mechanism, wherein the candidates are shortlisted by the workers, before being vetted by the state unit and approved by the Parliamentary Board. All the party leaders, including the party National president, National general secretary and others are required to follow the process”.
When his attention was drawn to poor network connectivity in the villages, resulting in disruption of online education, Ravi said Prime Minister Narendra Modi had initiated a host of measures with fund allocation for laying of optic fibre across the country, including Goa.
