Reminding the people that the earlier BJP government had cleared the infamous red-light area, Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar urged voters to elect BJP back to power with 26 seats for prosperity of the State and stability of the government.
Addressing the Mormugao constituency BJP's Vijay Sankalp Mahamelava behind Sada sub-jail Mormugao, Parrikar chose to refrain from national issues as his Konkani speech would be misinterpreted by the English media, compelling him to respond to questions in Delhi.
Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar said his government had carried out developmental works in all constituencies, even if they are represented by MLAs from opposition parties.
“When there was a need to carry out developmental works and reach out to the people, Congress was involved in corruption. Now, they are repenting and carrying out padyatras to convince the people,” said Parsekar.
Deputy Chief Minister Francis D’Souza said the people of Goa had accepted BJP and were with the party.
Power Minister Milind Naik placed before the BJP leaders and the crowd his progress card and stated that ever since he was elected, he was busy in development works in his constituency.
“Till date, I have carried out development works worth Rs 10 crore. While some projects are complete, other are in progress,” said Naik.
South Goa MP Narendra Sawaikar also spoke on the occasion.
