Body of man who drowned while fishing retrieved

MAPUSA: The body of Umesh Dabholkar (46) of Nerul, who drowned after falling from a fishing boat, was retrieved from Sinquerim beach on Wednesday. Dabholkar, his brother and three friends had gone fishing off Sinquerim on Tuesday morning when a large wave struck their boat, throwing him into the sea. His companions threw him a float, which he grabbed before swimming towards the shore, but he was dragged back into the sea.

Drishti lifeguards and fire and emergency services personnel searched for him until Tuesday night without success. The search resumed on Wednesday and his body was recovered from Sinquerim beach in the afternoon. Police conducted a panchanama and sent the body to Goa Medical College Hospital, Bambolim, for autopsy.
