PANAJI: A bomb threat triggered panic at Mount Litera Zee School in Zuarinagar, Sancoale, this morning after the school received an email claiming that explosive devices had been planted on the premises.
The email, reportedly sent by an unknown source, claimed that three IEDs made with Ammonium Nitrate were placed on the campus and warned that one "exclusive" RDX device could be triggered using RFID technology. The message demanded evacuation by 2 pm.
The school principal immediately alerted the authorities at the Margao Control Room, following which the bomb disposal squad rushed to the site. Firefighters were also placed on standby as a precautionary measure.
Students were swiftly evacuated from the school building and relocated to a nearby open ground. Their bags were thoroughly checked. Preliminary assessments suggest the email may have been a hoax, but a comprehensive sweep of the premises is still underway to rule out any threat.
