QUEPEM
In what could be a temporary relief from water problem for residents of Borigotov in Morpilla-Quepem, the drilling of a bore well began on Friday and is expected to be completed within a week.
The inaugural ceremony was conducted by local panch Dinesh Gaonkar in presence of Quepem MLA Chandrakant (Babu) Kavlekar, former panch Poonam Gaonkar and other villagers.
The residents have been facing acute water problems during summer as there is no tap water supply in the village. To make matters worse, there were no takers for the Rs 17 lakh tender to lay a water pipeline in the village.
Commenting on the lack of takers for the projects in the village, Kavlekar explained that a tender for the road leading to Government middle school at Kanibag-Morpilla and the water piepline project were floated.
“But due to implementation of GST and other formalities, the work order of both projects were delayed as contractors were unwilling to take up the tender,” said Kavlekar, who assured to resolve this problem soon.
Kavlekar also said he had raised the issue of the road in the recent assembly session and was assured that the roadwork would be taken up soon.
