Villagers of Borim have expressed their strong reservations over the new Borim bridge as they claimed the alignment will result in the demolition of houses in the village.
A delegation of villagers from Borim called on Environment Minister Aleixo Sequeira on Friday seeking his intervention to save their houses from demolition to make way for the new bridge.
Sequeira, however, advised the people to approach the local MLA and WRD Minister Subhash Shirodkar, saying he has not studied over the Borim bridge as far as the Borim side of the bridge is concerned.
“I told the Borim villagers that he had called for a meeting with the Senior PWD officials on the new Borim bridge, but it was pertaining to Loutolim side of the bridge. We have only discussed the seven alignments proposed by the consultant. And, we will meet again on December 11,” he said, adding that he has asked the villagers to approach their local MLA Subhash Shirodkar.
To a question, Sequeira pointed out that even the plan pertaining to the Loutolim section of the bridge is incomplete, adding that he has asked them to incorporate into the plan all the suggestions before the next meeting.
