Two bouncers employed with a nightclub in Siolim were arrested for beating up two tourists and extorting money from them, police said.
The accused Pravin Prakash Pathrud, resident of Agarwado, Pernem and Jaleel Ahmed are cooling their heels in police lockup.
The incident happened early Sunday morning when the tourists after night’s partying were moving out of ‘Thalassa’, a popular night club in Siolim.
According to the complaint lodged by one of the tourists from Karnataka, as they were reversing their vehicle at around 3.30 am the car slightly dashed a parked scooter in the compound of the night club.
The complainant said two bouncers in the parking lot rushed towards their vehicle and first snatched the car keys and then along with others brutally assaulted him and his friend with slaps, kicks and a wooden danda.
“The tourists received blows causing multiple injuries on their vital body parts which indicated there was intention to kill them,” Mapusa SDPO Jivba Dalvi told The Goan.
Dalvi further informed that the accused extorted Rs 5,000 from the complainant through an online transaction.
He said both the accused persons were employed as security bouncers in the parking lot of the night club.
“We will write for cancellation of licence of the security agency who employed these two accused,” the SDPO said.
Anjuna Police has filed an FIR under Sections 323, 324, 307, 384, 506 (ii) r / w 34 IPC against the duo and arrested them.
Further investigation is in progress under the supervision of Anjuna PI Prashal Dessai.
