The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Sunday reviewed the State’s preparedness for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls 2024.
Senior Deputy Election Commissioner Dharmendra Sharma was on a three-day visit to Goa to review Special Summary Revision 2024 (SSR 2024), training of officials, law and order situation and other subjects related to preparation for parliamentary polls.
Sharma and other ECI officers held a meeting with the Chief Electoral Officer, Collectors of North and South districts and Superintendent of Police of both districts.
During the meeting, Sharma discussed in detail about the law and order situation and directed the police to maintain strict vigil in the State ahead of polls. The deputy Commissioner also sought to know the State requirement of central forces during the poll period next year.
Sharma suggested the CEO officials to have a robust training mechanism in place for all the officials involved in LS poll preparation and thereafter. He suggested many provisions under which the State can purify the electoral roll.
