Searches conducted at

Bhujbal's properties

Mumbai: The Anti-Corruption Bureau of the Maharashtra Police on Tuesday conducted searches at various properties belonging to the NCP leader Chhagan Bhujbal and his family members in Nashik, Mumbai, Thane and Navi Mumbai. The former PWD minister reacted to the development saying that he was being targeted by the BJP-Shiv Sena government in an unprecedented manner.

The properties searched included ''Bhujbal Farm'', his farmhouse near Nashik, houses and offices in Nashik and offices at Manmad as well as at Yewla, which he represents in the state Assembly. In a statement, ACB said there were seven properties in Mumbai, two in Thane, five in Nashik and two in Pune where searches were underway to ascertain the assets owned by Chhagan Bhujbal, his son, MLA Pankaj Bhujbal and nephew Samir Bhujbal.

Morsi death sentence

CAIRO: An Egyptian court on Tuesday confirmed a death sentence handed to ousted Islamist President Mohammed Morsi over a mass prison break during the 2011 uprising that eventually brought him to power. Morsi, Egypt's first freely elected president, was in the courtroom in a glass-covered cage, with mesh wires over it. He listened to the verdict with a slight smile but did not say anything. The ruling was read out by judge Shaaban al-Shami after he consulted with Egypt's Mufti, a religious authority affiliated with the judiciary, as required by law in cases involving capital punishment. in US air strike

CAIRO: A US air strike has killed al-Qaida's No 2 leader, who commanded its powerful Yemeni affiliate, dealing the global network its biggest blow since the killing of Osama bin Laden and eliminating a charismatic leader at a time when it is vying with the Islamic State group for the mantle of global jihad. In a video statement dated June 14 and released on Tuesday by the Yemeni affiliate, a senior operative announced the death of Nasir al-Wahishi, a veteran jihadi who once served as bin Laden's aide-de-camp, and said his deputy, Qassim al-Raimi, has been tapped to replace him.
