Calangute Police informed that Paul Gerrard Atkinson was a regular customer carrying out a fitness regime at the Fitness World Gym in Calangute.
On Friday, Atkinson as usual began his fitness routine but suddenly collapsed while exercising at around 6.30 pm.
The 108 ambulance paramedics that were called at the spot declared the foreigner dead, police said.
Police suspect it to be a case of cardiac arrest, although the autopsy report will reveal the exact cause of death.
Atkinson had been staying in a guest house at Maddowado in Calangute.
“The foreigner had joined the fitness training in February and was a regular visitor to the gym,” Calangute PI Jivba Dalvi said.
Fitness World Gym manager, Ashok, informed The Goan that the foreigner had also visited the gym last year.
“This year, he had taken admission for a month,” the gym manager said.
“We don’t insist on a medical certificate from customers who seek admission for a short period. This is the first incident in our gym. Now,
we may have to insist on a medical certificate,” Ashok said.
