Hailing Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant for a development-oriented budget, the Canacona BJP block has said the budget has made provisions for several schemes and facilities in Canacona which would promote development in the taluka.
Addressing a news conference, the Canacona BJP Mandal President Nandip Bhagat said allotment of Rs 90 crore for the Laadli Laxmi scheme, clearing the pending Laadli Laxmi claims by May end, enhancement of scheme from Rs 2,000 to Rs 2,500 for widows was huge step for public welfare.
Bhagat also praised the chief minister for his announcement to allot house numbers for illegal houses on communidade lands to avail electricity and water connections.
Asked as to how the budget would benefit Canacona taluka, Bhagat said: “Canacona is progressing under our MLA Isidore Fernandes. Besides, budgetary provisions for the upcoming Ravindra Bhavan and making provisions for several schemes will help take Canacona on the development path.”
“We are privileged to have a chief minister who is concerned about the common man and we applaud him for presenting a budget, despite the odds and challenges due to the Covid pandemic and the ensuing financial crunch,” said Bhagat.
Responding to criticisms from the opposition that the budget was presented with an eye on the forthcoming elections, BJP Block spokesperson Bhushan Prabhugaonkar shot back saying people cannot expect anything else other than criticism from opposition parties.
Canacona BJP Mandal Secretary Damodar Chari and BJP Yuwa President Sanju Pagui were also present at the news conference.
