MARGAO
PWD Assistant Engineer Prasad Panandikar, who was monitoring the work at the site, told The Goan that the soil nailing process will be implemented at the site to prevent further mud slide and ensure safety of the road and adjoining building. “It will take around 6-7 days for the process to be fully implemented. The builder has requisitioned machinery from Bangalore to implement the directions of the authorities to carry out soil nailing of the mud wall,” Panandikar said.
The SGPDA as well as the Margao Municipality had directed the builder not to resume construction work at the site but to take the soil nailing work to prevent further mud slide.
Two labourers from Jharkhand had sustained injuries last month following the mud slide at the construction site.
Inquiries by the authorities later revealed that cracks had surfaced on the road used by the residents of the adjoining building, posing danger to the road as well as the building.
