Vasco police received a complaint from one Nameeta Patel at Mundvell stating that her flat had been ransacked by some unknown culprits and that, jewellery worth ` 5.79 lakh had gone missing. Police said the incident took place as Nameeta along with her husband and daughter had gone to her mother s place at Maimolem-Vasco. The burglary came to light when the family returned to the flat on Monday evening and found the front door lock broken and the door ajar. On entering the flat, Patel found that the entire flat was ransacked and that, gold and silver ornaments as well as a camera all worth around ` 5.79 lakh were stolen from her flat. Police said Patel had also noticed that the front door lock had been broken of a neighbour s flat and the door was also open, but the burglars did not find anything of value in the neighbouring flat. The police added that the burglars had also attempted to burgle two other flats on the second floor, but they did not find anything of value in those two flats either. Police are trying to find out if the entry of the thieves was somehow caught on some CCTV at the foot of the building. The police have also called on other residents to inform them if they have witnessed any suspicious looking individuals around the area on the days in question.
