Kenneth Ian Stewart Silveira contesting as an independent candidate for the Panaji Assembly seat in the upcoming by-poll is the richest among the seven candidates who have thrown their hat in the ring across the two Assembly seats.
Silveira who had also unsuccessfully contested the general election in February this year from the Dabolim constituency has a combined wealth of more than ` 26 crore beating the second richest candidate Vishwajit Rane, contesting on a BJP ticket from Valpoi by around ` 5 crore.
Silveira has declared movable assets to the tune of ` 1.17 crore while immovable assets to the tune of ` 25.42 crore.
Rane on the other hand has declared movable assets to the tune of ` 6.73 crore while immovable assets of ` 14.81 crore.
Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, who is the front runner to win the Panaji Assembly seat has declared assets to the tune of ` 6.29 crore with movable assets amounting to ` 2.71 crore and immovable assets of ` 3.58 crore.
The other significant candidate Roy Naik of the Congress in Valpoi has declared total assets of ` 1.32 crore with moveable assets amounting to ` 95 lakh and immovable assets valued at ` 37 lakh.
The Congress candidate Girish Chodankar who is taking on Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar in Panaji has assets worth ` 1.18 crore with ` 21.87 lakh as movable and ` 96.53 lakh as immovable assets.
The Goa Suraksha Manch candidate Anand Shirodkar has declared assets of ` 57.68 lakh with movable assets being ` 23.68 lakh and immovable assets amounting to ` 34 lakh.
The candidate from Valpoi Rohidas Gaonkar has shown assets of ` 44.27 lakh with moveable being ` 24.7 and immovable 20 lakh.
However when it comes to income, Vishwajit Rane is the highest earner with his annual declared income standing at ` 70.92 lakh while that of his family combined stands at ` 1.13 crore. Silveira's income stands at ` 17 lakh while that of his family is around ` 34 lakh. Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar's annual income is ` 26 lakh.
Others including Shirodkar, Chodankar and Naik have declared annual incomes of less than ` 2 lakh.
For the record, Rane has declared liabilities of round ` 11 crore, while Silveira has liabilities amounting to ` 1 crore and Parrikar has liabilities to the tune of ` 39 lakh.
Girish has liabilities to the tune of ` 11 lakh while Naik and Shirodkar have ` 6 lakh and ` 4 lakh respectively.
