Cabinet approves amendments to agricultural tenancy act

Speaking during the reply to a calling attention motion, Parrikar revealed the decision when he sought to make a point that he isn't averse to amending notifications, circulars or even laws, since he is a magician to predict the future.
"The amendments to the tenancy act have been passed in the cabinet today. These have been sent for printing and once done will be tabled before the House," Parrikar said.
The decision to amend the Goa Agricultural Tenancy Act will ensure that the cases of tenancy will now be heard by the mamlatdar courts and not the civil courts courts.
The amendments were brought about by the government when Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar was the chief minister back in 2012 and it was Parrikar who defended the amendments even against opposition from within his own party.
The demand to roll back the amendment was made by the Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party and was one of the their key manifesto promises which made its way into the Common Minimum Programme of the coalition government.
The first step to remove the ‘sunset clause' or a moratorium on filing fresh tenancy cases was taken by the government led by then chief minister Laxmikant Parsekar no sooner Manohar Parrikar went to New Delhi to be the Defence Minister of the country.
Meanwhile, Parrikar also said that he was not averse to amending his circular on the prohibition of MLAs and ministers summoning government officers to their homes or private offices for meetings.
