Cabinet clears 3-cylinders per household scheme

Presiding over the first Cabinet meeting after taking oath as Chief Minister for a second time, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said the scheme promised by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in its election manifesto to provide three LPG cylinders to each household for free in a year was discussed and approved.

“The three free LPG cylinders to every household in a year, mentioned in the party manifesto, has been finalised during the cabinet meeting," Sawant said addressing the media after the meet. 

He said, the scheme will be notified after modalities are worked out and it will be implemented in the new financial year.

"The BJP is here to serve the people. If we said three free cylinders, we will give three free cylinders. Whatever we have promised we are committed to fulfil," Sawant said.

Meanwhile, the Cabinet comprising eight ministers besides the Chief Minister, also approved the draft speech of the Governor P S Sreedharan Pillai, who is slated to deliver the address to the House on Tuesday when the new Goa legislative assembly convenes for a two-day session.
