Curchorem MLA Nilesh Cabral on Friday lamented the insufficient number of doctors and specialists at the Curchorem Community Health Centre (CHC), even after a year since the inauguration of the new building premises.
He was speaking to reporters after the inauguration of a cardiac ambulance donated by the District Mineral Foundation.
Cabral informed that the new building premises are equipped with all the necessary equipment and facilities for treating patients, but the non-availability of doctors has hampered the use of the available infrastructure at the Curchorem CHC.
Speaking further, he said that at the time of the inauguration of the new building premises, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and Health Minister Vishwajit Rane had assured provisions for the placement of doctors at the Curchorem CHC.
He claimed that even after a year since the inauguration of the building premises, he was unaware of why there are insufficient doctors and specialists at the CHC.
“If things fail to materialise, I plan to seek the services of private doctors with due financial assistance from the Mineral Foundation so that the available infrastructure at the Curchorem Community Health Centre is put to maximum use and the people benefit from the available resources,” said Cabral.
He was accompanied by Curchorem-Cacora Municipal Council Chairperson Prasanna Bhende, Health Officer Medha Kakodkar and others.
