PANAJIA six-member delegation ledby Director (Personnel), Officeof the Comptroller and Auditor General of India, (CAG)Vishal Desai, is on an official visit to Goa to review thepreparation for the upcoming SAI20 Engagement Groupfor G20 Summit scheduled inmid-June.Given this upcoming meeting, Sanjit Rodrigues, Secretary of Protocol Departmentand Nodal Officer for the G20summit, Goa chaired a meeting with the delegation at theSecretariat.
“The delegationis here till Saturday and themembers will visit hotels,airports and conference locations to review the preparations for the SAI20 summit,”he said after the marathonmeeting.
CAG India Girish Chandra Murmu who is also thechairman of SAI20 has calledon the SAI meetings to focuson topics including the blueeconomy and responsible artificial intelligence.
As part of India’s presidency of the G20 in 2023, the CAGwill also chair the SAI20 forthe year 2023 allowing Indiato play a leadership role inpromoting good governanceand accountability in the public sector in India and amongthe other G20 countries.
The Supreme Audit Institutions or SAI20 is a group ofaudit organisations from theG20 countries that promotesgood governance, transparency, and accountability.
Indiawill hold the second meetingof the two scheduled SAI20meetings as part of the G20summit in Goa from June 12 to14. The first meeting for senior officials of SAI20 membernations and the World Bank,was held in Guwahati in midMarch.
The SAI20 engagementgroup seeks to enhance transparency and accountabilityin governance by formulating strategies through discussions with all concerned parties. These strategies are thenutilized to create policies thatalign with their goals and onesthat impact global economies.
