Saligao Police have arrestedPrajakta Khavnekar on charges of stealing gold ornamentsworth Rs 2.9 lakh from a housein Salmona-Saligao.
Nishita Naik of Salmona-Saligao had filed a complaint with Saligao Police stating that Prajakta Khavnekarof Kudal had come to her residence on April 3 at about 10am and stayed overnight.
When Khavnekar left forKudal at 11 am on April 4, Naikrealised that her gold ornaments such as Mangalsutra,five bangles, chain and earrings in the house were missing.
Suspecting that the goldornaments may have beenstolen by Khavnekar, Naikrushed to Kudal, broughtKhavnekar back to Goa andhanded her over to SaligaoPolice station.
Saligao Police said theyhave registered the complaintunder Section 380 of IndianPenal code. The accused wasstaying in the rented premisesbelonging to Naik two yearsago. They have not been ableto recover gold ornamentsfrom the accused and policeare investigating the case.
