MAPUSA:
Calangute police have arrested two brothers on charges of duping foreigners of Rs 1.4 crore through an online fake call centre in Navsari-Gujarat.
A fake online call centre was busted by police at the Navsari cybercrime police station limits in Gujarat.
The suspects, Rudradutt alias Michael and Gajju, of Jodhpur, were accused of cheating foreigners to the tune of Rs 1.4 crore through the call centre. The amount was allegedly taken by the suspects through crypto currency.
The Navsari police registered a case against the suspects under Sections 388, 170, 171, 465, 467, 468, 471, 428, 120(b) and 34 of IPC and Section 66(c) and 66(d) of the Information Technology Prevention Act.
The Navsari police had received information that the accused had fled to Goa and were in Calangute area. Accordingly, the Gujarat Police contacted Calangute Police.
Based on this information, the police arrested both accused on Wednesday evening.
Gujarat Police has dispatched a team to take custody of the accused.
