Incessant rains lashing Jamboti-Kankumbi and the Western Ghats region since last four days has not only started causing havoc in the region but has left rivers and rivulets in the region inundated.
River Malaprabha is in spate as the Swayambhu Maurti Mandir near Habanatti village on the banks of the river is getting submerged. The temple is likely getting fully submerged by Wednesday night.
Incessant rain has also resulted in the uprooting of trees at some places on the Belagavi- Goa road via Chorla.
According to sources, due to the falling of trees and branches, electricity supply in Kankumbi village has been disrupted since Tuesday causing huge inconvenience to the villagers in Kankumbi and the villages around.
The Amgaon and Kankumbi region receives about 5,000 to 6,000 mm of rains on an average every year. However, looking at the weather forecast, it is going to rain heavily in July due to which rivers in the region are likely to cross the danger mark due to which the low lying bridges are likely to submerge.
Meanwhile, farmers have expressed satisfaction as the rains continue to lash the Western Khanapur region.
