PANAJI: The Department of Information Technology, Electronics and Communication (DITE&C) of Goa has announced major updates to the Gramin Mitra initiative to make government services more accessible and affordable. Approved by the State Cabinet, the "Revamp and Redesign of Gramin Mitra - Doorstep Delivery of Government Services" initiative introduces revised service delivery charges. Citizens will now pay Rs 50 per service delivery out of the total Rs 250 service charge, with the government subsidising the remaining Rs 200 plus taxes. This change aims to increase the utilisation of Gramin Mitra services, aligning with citizen preferences.
Analysis over the past five months, with feedback from CSC e-Governance Services India Ltd., revealed that citizens were reluctant to use the previous fee structure, preferring nearby CSC - VLE centres due to cost concerns. The revised Rs 250 service charge, along with applicable taxes, follows a comparison of different state models for doorstep service delivery.
To streamline service access, DITE&C has established 11 ecosystems leveraging IT tools for efficient service delivery, providing single-window access to a diverse range of government services. Additionally, CSC e-Governance Services India Ltd has launched a dedicated call center with toll-free number 14471 for streamlined access and support.
