MAPUSA: Calangute panchayat launched free wifi internet facility in Calangute after unveiling the life size statue of late Tito Henry de Souza at the Tito’s lane in Baga, Calangute on Saturday.
The free wifi facility will be available only along the Tito’s lane for the moment.
The statue was unveiled at the hands of late Tito’s wife, Lucille de Souza and Calangute Sarpanch, Filomena Fernandes in the presence of Calangute Parish Priest, Fr Cypriano de Silva, deputy sarpanch and other panch members.
The Calangute panchayat got a pat on the back from Calangute Parish Priest, Fr Cypriano de Silva for taking up public oriented steps in Calangute.
“Calangute panchayat deserves accolades for taking a lot of initiatives to improve the quality of life of the people of Calangute,” said Fr de Silva, while releasing the free wifi connectivity along the Tito’s lane.
“We hope you go ahead and launch more such public-oriented services for the people,” he said.
Deputy Sarpanch Joseph Sequiera complimented the two brothers and owners of Tito’s, Richard (Ricky) and David de Souza for helping the panchayat in CSR activities.
“Both Ricky and David have always been a huge help to the panchayat in their social responsibility,” Sequeira said.
Late Tito Henry de Souza was one of the few entrepreneurs to start restaurant business in Calangute three decades ago, which grew and flourished under the name of Tito’s, gaining huge popularity both in India and abroad.
The statue was unveiled to honour late Tito, the personality that was responsible for beginning Goa’s tourism odyssey.
