Saying that like-minded political parties will support complete halt to coal handling at the MPT when the alliance comes to power in Goa in 2022, Goa Forward Chief Vijai Sardesai said that Karnataka should import coal from the Mangalore port if the neighbouring state requires coal for the industry.
He demanded to know why should Goa put the health of its citizens at risk just to transport the coal to Karnataka when coal handing at the Mangalore port has been stopped.
“We will not allow coal to go to Karnataka from the MPT as the transportation will affect the lives and health of the people. Like-minded political parties, who come together to fight the 2022 electoral battle, will put the coal issue in the election manifesto so that coal handling is totally stopped at the MPT,” Sardesai said.
Referring to the government’s assurance that coal will be phased out from Goa, the Goa Forward Chief demanded a complete stop to coal handling and transportation in the state.
Apparently referring to the arrival of BJP Goa desk in-charge C T Ravi in the state on Sunday, who also happens to be a native of neighbouring Karnataka, and that the Congress observer Gundu Rao also hails from the neighbouring state, Sardesai said only time will prove whether the observers of the national parties have any love and concern for Goa.
Reiterating his stand that national parties cannot do justice to issues plaguing the state, Sardesai said these should prove that Goa has more weightage than Karnataka. He took a dig at the CM for what he termed as selling Mhadei and demanded to know the status of the State’s contempt petition.
