MARGAO
Chairman of the South Goa Planning and Development Authority (PDA) and MLA Krishna Salkar on Thursday said the PDA has scheduled an inspection of the Margao wholesale fish market on March 2. He said a decision on the inauguration of the long-delayed market will be taken after the inspection.
The PDA Chairman told the media that he has instructed the contractor to begin a cleanliness drive at the market on a war footing. “On my instructions, the cleaning work has already started inside the wholesale fish market. We will inspect the market on March 2, after which a decision will be taken on its inauguration,” he said.
The wholesale fish market had come under scrutiny from fishing stakeholders and residents over cleanliness issues, following complaints about its deteriorating condition.
