CANACONA
The Canacona Congress block hoisted the national flag to mark the culmination of Congress Leader Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra at Srinagar recently.
Newly elected Canacona Congress Block President Abel Borges hoisted the Indian National Flag at his residence at Agonda, and along with a few of his close congress supporters garlanded the portrait of Mahatma Gandhi on the occasion.
According to Borges, directives were given to hoist the National Flag by the respective block presidents at their own residences at 10 am, as part of the just concluded nationwide Bharat Jodo Yatra headed by Rahul Gandhi.
The Yatra undertaken under leadership of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, the first of its kind in the history of Congress, had commenced at Kanyakumari on September 7, 2021 and after covering a distance of 3,970 kms across 12 States, had culminated at Srinagar on Monday.
“As desired by the Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, all Pradesh Congress Committees, District Congress Committees and Block Congress Committees had been asked to also hold flag hoisting functions at the same time on January 30 at their respective party offices or important sites, in solidarity with the Bharat Jodo Yatra,” said Borges.
“Since most congress blocks do not have party offices, the block presidents had been asked to hoist the National Flag at their respective residences, as part of the pan India movement.”
“The Canacona Congress block will be rebuilt soon with the Congress stalwarts from the constituency playing a major role in overall party activities,” he added.
