CANACONA
The Covid Vaccination Centre has been shifted from the Canacona Community Health Centre (CHC) and has begun operation from the Government Higher Secondary School at Mastimoll-Canacona.
In a related development, a call centre has been set up to assist Covid-19 Home Isolated patients at Shri Mallikarjun College, Delem-Canacona.
Following widespread complaints of different medical activities taking place in the CHC compound, the Covid Vaccination Centre was shifted from the CHC and made operational at Government GHSS Mastimoll, opposite the Canacona police station from Tuesday.
People have demanded that the Covid testing centre should also be moved away from CHC and relocated to another suitable place so that people with suspected Covid should not be allowed to mingle with other patients visiting the CHC.
Meanwhile, a call centre for patients in Home Isolation has also been set up at Shri Mallikarjun College, Delem, under the supervision of the South Goa Disaster Management Authority and Canacona administration. This centre will assist and keep track of the health conditions of the Covid-infected patients under home isolation
When contacted, Deputy Speaker and Canacona MLA Isidore Fernandes said more measures will be put into place, including plans to convert the entire old CHC building into a Step-Up Covid Care Centre.
“I expect cooperation from everyone including that of the health team, We need to fight together to win the battle against Covid,” said Fernandes.
