CANACONA
Schools in Canacona tied Rakhis on army personnel and also made Rakhis to be handed over to soldiers.

A programme ‘Ek Rakhi Sainikam-Satti’ was organised by Shree Balram Educational Society at its residential school in Amone-Poinguinim. The function was attended by Shree Shradhanand Vidyalaya (Poinguinim) Headmistress Seema Prabhugaonkar, Government High School (Sadolxem) Headmaster Sudesh Naik, Balram A Day Care School (Mokhard) Headmaster Ashok Gaonkar and others. Rakhis were tied to all the dignitaries present on the dais.

On the occasion, Rakhis prepared by students of Shraddhanand Vidyalaya, Shri Damodar Vidyalaya, Shri Mallikarjun Vidyalaya, Tudal Nirakar Vidyalaya, Government High Schools of Khotigao, Sadolxem, Gaondonguirim, Shristhal, besides Balaram Education Societies Pre-primary and Primary schools and Higher Secondary schools were handed over to Speaker Ramesh Tawadkar and the Retd. Army officer Anant Joshi to be presented to soldiers.

In his address, retired army officer Anant Joshi said: “Rakhis inspire and encourage soldiers. I will personally deliver the Rakhis to the soldiers stationed on the country’s border.”

Speaking on the occasion, Tawadkar said patriotism should be created among students. “We all enjoy a peaceful life because of our soldiers. We need to instil patriotism in our hearts and it is should be shown to all in our daily lives,” said Tawadkar.

Others present on the occasion included Sarpanch of Poinguinim and Shree Balram Residential Scholl Headmistress Savita Tawadkar, Poinguinim Deputy Sarpanch Sunil Paigankar, Panch Mahesh Naik, In-charge Principal Vandana Gaonkar, In-charge Principal Kavita Naik Gaonkar, Chandrakant Velip, President of Parents Teacher Association Vrinda Velip, former Shristhal sarpanch and Panch as well as treasurer of the organisation Ganesh Gaonkar, secretary of the organisation Janu Tawadkar, members Ashok Gaonkar and Arjun Velip.
