Mandrem MLA Jit Arolkar has assured justice to a woman living alone at Vitthaldas Wada in Morjim, in her efforts to repair her house.
Cynthia Fernandes lost her entire family, comprising both parents and a brother, four years ago in an accident at the Chopdem-Siolim bridge. Cynthia was also in the car but survived the mishap.
Currently, she is living in a house covered with plastic sheets. She does not have a toilet, and there have been objections from the landlord regarding repairs to her house. The case pertaining to the property is in court.
After reading media reports about the plight of Cynthia, the Mandrem MLA visited her house along with Pernem Deputy Collector Deepak Vaingankar, Pernem Mamlatdar Anant Malik, Pernem PI Sachin Lokre, a local citizen, Anant Shetgaonkar, and others.
The MLA instructed the Mamlatdar Anant Malik to clear the case of the Mundkar land issue. The deputy collector declined to speak much on the case as it is subjudice.
The MLA assured Cynthia that Cynthia would be given justice and that the basic infrastructure she needs to live would also be provided within 15 days. Pernem PI Sachin Lokre instructed the security guards not to trouble Cynthia.
